What every buyer should know before and after acquiring a plate
Personal Showing
Every Curtis copper plate and piece of ephemera is unique. Before purchase, the Camp Keeper offers a personal Zoom session to walk you through the actual piece you are considering.
A copper photogravure plate may show any of the following characteristics:
- Curtis’s own handwork and edits to the image
- Different stages of etching depth
- Areas of wear from printing
- Residual ink — or none
- Surface oxidation or patina
- Evidence of a century of handling
- Cosmetic imperfections that have no effect on its historical importance
These are characteristics, not defects. They are the physical evidence of a working life that began over a century ago. The personal showing ensures you understand exactly what you are acquiring before you commit.
Payment
Payment is completed after the buyer has seen the piece and decided to proceed. Available methods:
- Credit card — processed securely through Chase Payment Solutions
- Check — mailed to CurtisCamp LLC
- Wire transfer — available on request for institutional purchases
Payment is the final administrative step, not the first.
Shipping
All shipping costs are included in the purchase price. Plates and ephemera ship via UPS Two-Day, fully insured. Each piece is professionally packed for safe transit.
Returns
No returns, except for verified shipping damage. In the forty-four-year history of this collection, no plate has ever been returned for a refund.
What Every Buyer Receives
- The piece itself, conserved and carefully stored
- Confirmation of its place in the complete provenance chain
- Reference to the Florence Curtis Graybill authentication letter (1983, on file)
- Documentation of conservation history
- Sale documentation from CurtisCamp LLC
- Full, unrestricted print rights transferred to the buyer
- 10% of the purchase price donated in your name to a Native American cause of your choosing
A Note on Stewardship
When you acquire a piece from this collection, you become its next custodian in a chain that stretches back more than a century. These pieces have passed through very few hands. The Camp Keeper takes the placement of every item seriously and welcomes buyers who feel the same way.
